SciFi Channel, Fridays at 9PM.
SciFi Channel, once known for it's cheesy cable movies and replays of stuff like X-tro, has a pretty killer lineup now on Friday nights. A Heroes replay at 7PM, the new Dr. Who at 8 (which I have discussed in the past), and perhaps the best of the bunch, Battlestar Galactica. Battlestar is at once similar to the show of the late 70's early 80's, but in another way not even close. Think Deadwood in space. The visuals which harken back to Bladerunner ,are amzing and at time breathtaking, and the cinematography is better than most movies. It is a gritty, dirty, psychological mess. The characters, acting, and personalities are perfect. The use of CGI is also perfect. The science fiction is very realistic (example, no lasers, lack of huge explosions in the void of space) and much of the technology looks very modern day. The Cylons are pretty bad ass, and very intimidating. One of the big differences between the original and this one, is that the cylons have developed a cylon species that is human, so needless to say, paranoia abounds. The humanoid cylons have human emotion . . what a mess. And Starbuck is a sexy chick. Season 3 began last Friday, I am sure you can find a replay (there is one tonight) of the 2 hour premiere, you can walk right into it and be fine.

Kind of compare the two themes. Modern:
You see some of the Bladerunner, Dune influences. The one from the late 70's early 80's (which I loved).
Special effects were good in this one too.

Oh and the original Apollo is in both of them.
I once watched a porn movie with a guy named Apollo in it. It was so low-budget and poory filmed you could hear the director's voice periodically: "Slow Down, Apollo! Pace yourself!"
Is Apollo code for AP which is turn is code of Angry Piper?
the music on the second video sounds soooo familiar to me but I cannot rememeber anything about the series! o-0
